Granting of a temporary residence visa for remote work (Nomad Visa)
Temporary residence permit for rentiers granted by the Ecuadorian State to foreign nationals who own their own business or work for one or more legal entities or individuals domiciled abroad, to carry out professional or service activities remotely, digitally, or through teleworking. It is issued at the Zonal Directorates in Ecuador, Ecuadorian Embassies (Consular Section), or Ecuadorian Consulates abroad.
The beneficiaries are all foreign citizens who intend to settle in the country to work remotely, whether they own a business or work for one or more legal entities or individuals domiciled abroad, to carry out professional or service activities remotely, digitally, or through teleworking.
Target audience: Foreign Individuals.
Mandatory Requirements:
A recent color photograph in JPG format, maximum 1 MB, 5 x 5 cm (2 x 2 inches), with a white background. The facial expression should be neutral (preferably), or with a natural smile, and both eyes open.
A valid passport with a minimum validity period of six (6) months.
An original criminal record certificate from the country of origin or from any country where the applicant has resided during the last five years, translated, apostilled, or legalized. One hundred and eighty (180) days of validity will be considered, counted from the date of issuance of the certificate until the applicant's last entry into the country. Certificates issued by federal governments will be valid as long as they cover criminal records at the national level. This document is required only for persons over 18 years of age.

Special Requirements:
Demonstrate foreign-source income of at least three (3) Unified Basic Salaries per month for the three (3) months prior to the visa application, or a total of thirty-six (36) Unified Basic Salaries per year.

This visa may also be applied for by those who present documentation demonstrating ownership of a company registered and domiciled abroad.
Nationals of the countries on the list to be prepared by the Ministry of Tourism may apply for this visa (ALL COUNTRIES, Official Letters No. MT-MINTUR-2022-0920-OF and MT-MINTUR-2022-1173-OF, dated February 24 and March 14, 2022, respectively).
You must present valid national or foreign health insurance for the same period as the visa. If the insurance is with a foreign company, the policy or contract must indicate coverage in Ecuador. In order for the holder of this category to be able to cover other people, he must justify additional monthly income of two hundred and fifty (250) US dollars for each person covered.
