TEMPORARY INVESTOR RESIDENCE VISA


Temporary residence permit granted by the Ecuadorian State to foreigners who invest in property or economic resources of lawful origin to carry out productive and commercial activities, legal representation, attorneys, and administrative positions. This type of visa has no time limit on the length of stay abroad and allows the holder multiple admissions to the country. It is issued through Ecuadorian Diplomatic Missions or Consular Offices abroad and through the Zonal Directorates in Ecuador.


All foreign citizens who invest in property or economic resources of lawful origin to carry out productive and commercial activities, legal representation, attorneys, and administrative positions with the intention of establishing themselves to carry out lawful investor activities with regular immigration status.


Addressed to: Natural Person - Foreigner.


Mandatory Requirements:

  • Updated color photograph in JPG format (maximum 1 MB), 5 x 5 cm (2 x 2 inches), with a white background. Neutral facial expression (preferably) or a natural smile, with both eyes open;

  • Valid passport valid for a minimum of six (6) months;

  • Original criminal record certificate from the country of origin or where the applicant has resided during the last five years, translated, apostilled, or legalized. One hundred and eighty (180) days of validity will be counted, counting from the date of issuance of the certificate until the applicant's last entry into the country. Certificates issued by federal governments will be valid as long as they cover the national criminal record. This document is required only for persons over 18 years of age.

  • Payment of the fee set by the human mobility authority; and
    Other documents required by the authority as appropriate.

  • Proof of legal means of subsistence in accordance with Ministerial Agreement No. 70, of June 28, 2024.

Special Requirements:

  • Deed, policy, or certificate of deposit with a minimum term of seven hundred thirty (730) days, issued by a credit institution recognized by the Superintendency of Banks or the Superintendency of the Popular and Solidarity Economy, for an amount equivalent to and no less than one hundred (100) unified basic salaries of the general worker; or

  • Deed of sale of a property located in national territory, in which the owner is stated, registered in the Property Registry of the respective canton, and with a value no less than one hundred (100) unified basic salaries; or,

  • Document proving ownership of shares or interests in an Ecuadorian company, for an amount not less than one hundred (100) unified basic salaries, duly registered with the Superintendency of Companies, Securities, and Insurance.

  • Copy of a current public deed of the investment contract signed with the Ecuadorian State; or

  • Copy of a current deed of delegated management signed with entities of the central or decentralized autonomous governments; or

  • Copy of the contract. Copy of any administrative contract of any nature signed with the State.
